How To Remove Dye From Red Diesel

Sounds as if the UV is photochemically cleaving the dye molecule and the resultant compounds (breakdown products) are not active as dyes. Unless they have a actually expert reason, I tin can't meet anyone doing forensics on "yellow" diesel to check whether it was ever dyed.

Anyone accept a CAS # or the chemical proper name(s) for the dye(south) used in diesel?

(strictly a marvel question)

diesel on

JJ

Perhaps the feds already know that red-dye fuel turns xanthous and then that no forensics is required. Wonder if the green stuff changes color?

LOL, thank you guys, I needed a proficient chuckle....

tax avoidance vs revenue enhancement evasion vs contentious objection to how tax dollars are allocated hmmmm, that is the question....or at least it could be...

Simply seriously I neither condone nor condemn idle conversation although nosotros have been warned. I suspect it would be wise for everyone to heed that warning.

Maybe you could use a UV sterilizer that you can buy for ponds to kill algae and pathogens, some come with a apportionment pump built-in.

That'southward what I was going to advise. I accept ane similar this: http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_uv_ultraviolet_sterilizers_ozonizers_coralife_turbo-twist.asp (on my aquarium, not the car).

This probably wouldn't be a bad idea if you lot are running biodiesel. Information technology might prevent bacteria from edifice up and causing sludge issues. It likewise might cause the fuel to break downwardly if it'southward photo-degradable (I have no idea if it is or non).

Have you guys not ever met an erstwhile Caddie owner? The i I met was a nice older (kinda geek) swain. He was filling up the 'eighty VW and poured near a i/two quart of Transmission fluid in the tank. He said it was the "life" of the engine. Transmission fluid is Red.

This is 1 of those... Please Do Not Do This To Your Tdi. I end up with gallons of waste product oil. And then every now and and then I'll pour three or four gallons in my Powerstroke just to get rid of the stuff. Have whatsoever idea what 10% burnt oil does to nice clean diesel fuel fuel? GeeeeeeWhizzzz it looks about the aforementioned color every bit the burnt oil. I inverse the fuel filter to look for crap that was building up.

100 gallons a day in a make new pan that toll $200,000.00, if there was any risk of harm from the dye call back the owner would pump it in the equipment.

Well in my area, we very rarely ever hear of anyone beingness checked for offroad diesel. However my understanding is the "test" is actually performed at the tailpipe with some blazon of newspaper that changes the advisable color. Then...if that IS the case, the color of the fuel would take nil to do with it. I may be incorrect about this.

I heard from a guy that heard from a cop that the have a special visor that they flip down that somehow can tell if a diesel burner is running offroad diesel.

I'm not saying that this is truthful, I'm only saying this is what I heard.
